Cacique Foods Announces Closure of Massive California Location; Harry Davis & Company to Liquidate Assets
September 12, 2023 – City of Industry, CA – Cacique Foods, the maker of the #1 brand of authentic Mexican-style cheeses, cremas, chorizos and salsas in the U.S., announced today that it will be closing its factory in City of Industry, CA, and relocating its dairy production to a new state-of-the-art facility in Amarillo, TX.
The new 200,000 square-foot facility will serve as a flagship for Cacique’s investment in their long-term strategy and set a course as a new benchmark for innovation in the food industry. Production of a wide variety of food products brings more than 200 new jobs to the Amarillo area and began over the summer of 2023, featuring technology that will place it among the most advanced dairy facilities in the country.
“The availability of Cacique’s California equipment is an outstanding opportunity that we do not see very often in our industry,” said Lenny Davis, CEO of Harry Davis & Company. “A plant of this size with the capabilities to produce such a wide range of products, especially in this geographical area – there is a lot of late model equipment here that has been hard to source with increasing global lead times and logistics constraints. This is a complete site closure, so everything from the specialized equipment down to the generic food factory items including utilities are being offered.” Harry Davis & Company is a leader in the food and beverage equipment market and will offer the assets of this massive facility at auction in November 2023.
“It’s important that we maximize our return on our equity in the City of Industry facility, so we engaged the dairy industry’s leading market maker, Harry Davis & Company to make sure everyone knows the quality of equipment we have for sale here,” said Cacique CEO Gil deCardenas. On offer will include more than 2,000 auction lots including product silos, pasteurization, homogenizers, milk and whey separators, process tanks, cheese and dairy packaging and an enormous selection of parts, utilities and general food facility plant equipment.
